Pay range: $19.00 per hour

Reports to the Office Manager.

The Chef Assistant 2nd shift is responsible for assisting with the preparation and serving of the 2nd shift meals to Team Members. You will ensure that the Kitchen, Breakroom and Break Tents are orderly and stocked properly during and prior to end of shift.  You are also responsible for ensuring that the Kitchen is in operating order and occasionally assist with receiving, checking-in and putting food orders away.

Essential Functions: 

  • Ensure Kitchen is in operating order: all equipment is in proper working order,
    all necessary tools are accounted for and are clean for future use, Kitchen is
    clean and sanitized regularly, ingredients needed for cooking are available,
    Coolers and Freezer contain safe usable food wrapped/sealed, marked and
    stored properly using FIFO processes. Any items found to be not in proper
    condition must be reported immediately to the Office Manager.
    ● Follow directives and instructions of 1st Shift Chef and/or Office Manager.
    ● Prepare, Serve and Clean-up Break Meals & Lunch Meals for 1st Shift according
    to Meal Plan directives and instructions.
    ● Assist 1st Shift Chef with prep work for all meals as needed.
    ● Occasionally (when needed) Receive, Check and Put-Away supplies for Kitchen
    and Breakroom.
    ● Re-stock of supplies in Breakroom and “Breakroom” Tent.
    ● Prepare all food in a safe, sanitary manner.
    ● Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards including regular equipment
    cleaning.
    ● Ensure the kitchen is clean, stocked and ready for next shift's use.
    ● Assist with general cleaning of the breakroom between meal service, as needed.
    ● Communicate efficiently and professionally with team members and
    management.
    ● Prepare all potentially hazardous foods at the correct temperature according to
    HACCP guidelines

  • Operate Commercial Ovens, Stoves, Grills, Microwaves, and Fryers to prepare
  • Able to understand and calculate cooking measurements.
  • Able to understand and read temperature gauges.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage a high volume,
    fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other Kitchen Team
    Members

Physical Demands: 

  • Be able to lift items at a weight of approximately 50+ pounds.
  • Be able to stand continuously for periods of me equivalent to 6-10 hours.
  • Be able to tolerate High temperatures.
  • Be able to perform repetitive hand and arm movement.

Requirements/Education:

  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of cooking experience within the Food Service Industry.
  • Able to provide ServSafe Certificate or promptly complete ServSafe Certification.
